Elegant Dining at a Farmstead Rich in Tradition

Opposites attract – and complement each other. The restaurant Zum Löwen in Tisens/Tesimo combines contrasting aesthetic elements to form a harmonious whole. For more than 20 years, now, the proprietors Anna and Alois Matscher have been operating this elegant inn. They have carried out a careful restoration of the building: Under the tasteful lighting conditions, the thick walls and centuries-old, massive beams radiate a quiet dignity,

while the surroundings exude an inviting warmth and coziness. Anna and Alois Matscher didn't start out in the restaurant business. Anna has applied a lot of intuitive creativity to establish herself as a star chef. Alois is an enthusiastic sommelier, and can serve the ideal wine to accompany the delicious dishes his wife creates, garnished with aromatic herbs from their own garden. His wine cellar encompasses a wide variety of international wines. At the Löwen, meals of fine foods and select wines aren't merely eaten – they're celebrated.

Anna Matscher demonstrates a culinary mastery of local and international styles:... Pork Belly and Roasted Blood Wurst, Ravioli with Quinces chutney and Stuffed Goose Liver... The Matschers are ambitious, inventive, and – above all else – open for culinary experimentation. The restaurant was quick to earn its Michelin star. By the way: It's the only star in the culinary paradise of South Tyrol which has been awarded to a female chef.
